Verity Group have specialist knowledge of contemporary investigation principles, and neurodiverse and trauma-informed best practice.
We have developed our best practice principles by drawing on over 20 years experience conducting complex and sensitive investigations into matters including, but not limited to, sexual harassment, assault in the workplace, abuse in care (health/disability and child protection settings), and serious workplace accidents.
Our best practice principles support the provision of a high level of professional empathy, emotional intelligence, patience, knowledge of procedural fairness, adaptable and consistent communication, and expert investigative interviewing skills, to provide a timely, independent process that minimises secondary trauma.
Trauma is an emotional response to a distressing event or experience. Studies in neuroscience show that trauma can significantly impact memory, perception, and the ability to recount specific events.
Workplace investigators need to ensure a victim/survivor focused approach is applied to investigations by being able to recognise the signs of trauma, and to understand how this may affect complainants, respondents, and witnesses, and their ability to recall information.
Neurodivergent approaches to investigations aim to assist individuals with neurodivergent conditions who may experience difficulties with language, speech, motor skills, behaviour, memory, learning or other neurological functions. We provide a range of options to participate in an investigation, and try to create a neurodiverse friendly environment when conducting in-person interviews. Please let us know your specific requirements.
